Doves in Religion

In the Christian faith the White Dove symbolizes innocence, gentleness and peace.

Genesis 8:11, a dove was released by Noah after the flood in order to find land; it came back carrying an olive leaf in its beak, telling Noah that, somewhere, there was land. Christians used Noah’s dove as a peace symbol.

John 1:32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

It is a symbol of the Holy Spirit (Gen. 1:2; Matt. 3:16; Mark 1:10; Luke 3:22; John 1:32); also of tender and devoted affection (Cant. 1:15; 2:14).

Psalms 55:6, 8, David in his distress wished that he had the wings of a dove, that he might fly away and be at rest.

Matthew 3:16-17 and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him

Aphrodite – Greek Love Goddess who sailed the seas in a scallop shell. Queen of the Sea. Her Sacred metal is copper. Goddess of birth, life, love, death, time and fate, reconciling man to all of them through sensual and sexual mysticism. Patroness of arts and letters, craft and culture. The Dove was her totem.

What Happens To These Beautiful Birds Once We Let Them Loose?beautiful_doves_home_aviary
Is it cruel to set these birds free into the wild?

Don’t worry! The birds we release at your wedding or event are not the classic little white doves that might find at your local pet shop. To release such a domesticated and frail pet into the wild would be extremely cruel and in no way would that type of cruelty and selfishness offer fond memories of your special event or function. These pet shop birds would not survive for very long in the wild.

Instead, the beautiful white birds that we release at your wedding or event are in the same family but are actually pure white, pure bread and well trained (Rock Doves… or) homing pigeons. All doves are in the pigeon family but this special breed of birds simply loves to fly.

beautiful_doves_home_loftWhere do they fly to? HOME! Just like us humans these birds love their home. It is where they raise their families, eat a well balanced diet, enjoy fresh water, and frequent baths in an extremely safe & clean environment designed specifically for their comfort. This is where they spend an eternity with their chosen life mates. Our white doves will be home in their loft safe and sound even before the handler makes it back home. Without knowing where they are when released these miracle birds, using a built in homing instinct will circle the release area several times to get their bearings and then head straight for home at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour or more. Our flock resides in a custom climate controlled home just like you. Just like most people our birds are vaccinated and take their vitamins. They are loved, handled and cared for by their owners and handlers in much the same manner you would care for your family dog.

All releases must be scheduled at least one hour prior to sunset on the North Strand & one and a half hours prior to sunset on the South Strand. All other locations must be calculated by our manager to determine the latest release time. Our birds do not have headlights and therefore they do not fly after dark.

It is at the sole discretion of our trained handlers on whether or not conditions are favorable and safe to release our beautiful white doves. If the handler decides that weather conditions are unfavorable for a safe flight and return to their home loft they will not release the birds. Please do not try to offer our handlers additional compensation to overlook adverse flying conditions. You would not want the pilot of your plane to risk your life in the event of unsafe flying conditions.
